Not a tourist destination yet, but a scientific project exploring ancient civilization in Isaan is Ban Non Wat, a sleepy farmer village near Phimai. A deeply earthed rich civilization there with already sophisticated systems of irrigation for the agriculture has been proven to date back more than 3,000 years. An own museum to display the unearthed treasures found in the graveyards is planned.
