Lak Muang is the site of Korat's city pillar, the geographic center of province and city. Originally when a city is built a pillar is driven into the ground representing the gods Phra Seua Muang, Phra Song Muang and Phra Lak Muang. Behind Lak Muang is the Royal Temple, Wat Pra Na Rai, situated, which also hosts the Buddhist University, Nakhon Ratchasima Campus. Also near is Night Bazar, where you can purchase all kinds of things from late afternoon until about 9 p.m. Several restaurants are also in the area.
